Edward Brazier died from wounds on 19th September, 1914 while serving with the 1st Wiltshire battalion of 7 Brigade, 3rd Division, but as yet there is no further information concerning his death.

1st Wiltshire had been involved in the opening battles of the war at Mons and Le Cateau in August, after which they joined the Great Retreat of the British Army to the Marne and then fought in the Battle of the Aisne in September, 1914 when the war of movement ended and both sides began digging trenches. The location of the cemetery in which he was buried at Le Cateau, suggests that he was wounded and hospitalised there by the Germans after the Battle of Le Cateau on 26th August.
